چکیده

The rate of photosynthesis and changes in chlorophyll fluorescence parameters of transformed tobacco plants grown in vitro and after their transplantation in natural conditions were studied. It was found that in vitro conditions limited photosynthetic incorporation of CO2 in the leaves of transformants probably because of restricted gas exchange in the vials. In vitro conditions also caused lower photochemical effectiveness (lower Fv, and Fv/Fm ratio). However, after transplanting the transformed tobacco plants and their acclimation to natural conditions the parameters investigated reached normal values. These results show that the genetic transformation had not influence the photosynthetic characteristics of tobacco line CMS/81 as well as its acclimation ability.

Effects of Ventilation and Sucrose Concentrations on the Growth and Plantlet Anatomy of Micropropagated Persian Walnut Plants

Plantlets grown in conventional tissue culture systems usually encounter physiological and anatomical abnormalities including inability to photosynthesize, low chlorophyll content, open stomata, lack of a cuticle layer in the leaf, abnormal xylem parenchyma etc. Photoautotrophic and photomixotrophic systems could diminish these problems. The purpose of this study was to increase the chlorophyll...

Growth and Photosynthetic Characteristics of Solanum tuberosum Plantlets Cultivated in Vitro in Different Conditions of Aeration, Sucrose Supply, and CO(2) Enrichment.

Growth characteristics, oxygen exchange, and carbohydrate and chlorophyll contents were determined 30 days after subculturing of single node-derived plantlets of Solanum tuberosum cv Haig cultivated in vitro. Cultivation conditions were: (a) photomixotrophy in closed vessel, (b) photomixotrophy in closed vessel on medium supplemented with silver thiosulfate, (c) photomixotrophy in aerated vesse...

The effects of heavy metal mercury on some physiological responsses in Nicotiana tabacum

One of the major abiotic stresses that negatively affects plants is the presence of heavy metals. Soil pollution with heavy metals, resulting from the industrial development and use of fertilizers containing heavy metals, has become a major environmental concern in human societies. Mercury is a toxic heavy metal that causes pollution in agricultural lands. Accumulation of Hg by plants may disru...

Effect of Different Concentrations of Copper and Lead on Stomata Changes, Morphological and Biochemical Characteristics of Four O’Clock (Mirabilis jalapa)

In recent decades cultivation of plants as a tool to manage the polluted areas by heavy metals has received an increased attention. In order to evaluate the possibility of using Four o’clock plant as a phytoremediator in soils polluted by Cu and Pb, an experiment was conducted using four levels of Cu and Pb (0, 200, 400, and 800 mg/kg) concentrations, as a factorial experiment based on a comple...
